# The case files

Nanobubble oxygenation has a published record in lab and field trials across the water world. Our own case files join it here as the first installations go in: baseline, prediction, the measured curve, and what didn't move.

## What nanobubbles have been shown to do

Nanobubble oxygenation, the mechanism every N-Series unit is built around, has a strong published record in lab and field trials: in ponds, on farms, under glass, and inside treatment plants. Each figure below is verbatim from its source and carries the scope it was measured in.

2×

oxygen transfer

In a bench comparison, nanobubble aeration roughly doubled the standard oxygen-transfer efficiency of a conventional diffuser under the same conditions. It is the mechanism, not a pond result.

[Kizhisseri, Sakr, Maraqa and Mohamed, *Heliyon*, 2025](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.heliyon.2025.e41687)

A 25 L bench test in clean water. It shows the headroom of the mechanism, not what an installed unit does to a real pond or lake. Harmful-algal-bloom outcomes are held back until a credited limnologist reviews them.

2×

total harvest

In a controlled shrimp trial, nanobubble aeration roughly doubled total harvest and productivity against a conventional diffuser aerator, and survival reached 95 percent.

[Rahmawati et al., *Aquaculture and Fisheries*, 2021](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.aaf.2020.03.005)

Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) in 50 m² indoor raceway ponds over 81 days, nanobubble versus diffuser aeration. A controlled trial, not an Alchemal installation.

6-25%

more germination

In published trials, seeds started in nanobubble water germinated 6 to 25 percent more often, and oxygen and nitrogen nanobubbles raised stem length, stem diameter, and leaf growth.

[Ahmed et al., *Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry*, 2018](https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.jafc.8b00333)

Lettuce, carrot, fava bean, and tomato in tap water. Air nanobubbles alone did not raise germination. A bench study of the mechanism, not a field or Alchemal result.

+25.6%

methane output

In laboratory anaerobic digestion, air nanobubbles raised methane output 25.6 percent by speeding the breakdown of organic solids.

[Lyu et al., *Bioresource Technology Reports*, 2024](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.biteb.2024.101939)

A laboratory digestion test on pre-treated sewage sludge, not an on-farm manure lagoon, and carbon dioxide nanobubbles outperformed air. It shows the reach of the mechanism, not what an Alchemal lagoon unit does.

95%

load removed

In a pilot reactor, nanobubble aeration reached 95 percent removal of organic load against 80 percent for a fine-bubble system, and lifted nitrogen removal to 99 percent.

[Ahmadi et al., *Frontiers in Energy Research*, 2022](https://doi.org/10.3389/fenrg.2022.884353)

A sequence-batch-reactor pilot at a 400 mg/L organic load and 15-day retention, nanobubble versus fine-bubble aeration. A pilot result, not an Alchemal installation.

These findings describe nanobubble oxygenation as a mechanism, not an Alchemal unit. Our own installations publish their records as case files as they go in. The mechanism itself is explained on [what are nanobubbles](https://alchemal.com/technology/nanobubbles/).

## Where we are in the process

We're building and testing the first N-Series prototype devices right now, the systems that carry this mechanism to your water. Every founding installation runs a 12-week instrumented validation, a dated baseline, a written prediction, and weekly readings against both, and its record publishes here as a case file either way the curve goes, only ever with the owner's agreement. Being early also means priority scheduling: requests are answered in the order they arrive.

## Join the waitlist

We're building and testing the first N-Series prototypes right now. If you'd like to support us and follow along, leave an email and we'll write as we get closer to launch: the first units reaching water, and the first case files.

## Your water can be one of the first case files.
